HOW SPAIN GOT THEIR GROOVE BACK

 

It was the Phoenicians who brought winemaking to Spain in 1000 B.C. By the 1st century B.C., Roman philosophers were waxing poetic about its power. But Spain truly stepped onto the world’s stage in the 19th century when the grapevines of France suffered a crippling vine disease. To preserve their legacy, they brought French varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon to Spain. Would the land support them? Time would tell. Not only does the land here support these grapes, but they also yield a wine that tastes uniquely different from its French counterpart. This is the magic of Spanish wine.
